Framed Indonesian Sword (Keris)

Framed Keris Sword
This antique Keris (Kris) presented an interesting challenge given the depth of the hilt. Thought to possess magical powers, a presence, good or bad luck it is indeed a fearful looking weapon.

The box frames had been constructed to minimise the total depth required to mount the Keris.  The outer frame contained the glazing and two outer mounts. The inner frame is unseen as it is positioned behind the forward mounts. The Keris is supported by multiple stays positioned on either side of the hilt and lower portion of the blade.  Secured with monofilament at the Hilt and lower portion of the blade the item is secured without any adverse impact on viewing.

Frames: Larson Juhl #332900
Mounts: Sorrel Bainbridge # 8512
             #998743 , 998751
Foam:    Artcare Archival
Glazing: TruVue Conservation Clear

Shadow Box Display

Framed Keris
Shadow play from the forward mounts and Keris highlight both the dagger and presentation depth within the box frame.
